Product Description:

This floor heating kit is a complete electric radiant floor heating system engineered to deliver comfort, durability, consistent heat distribution, and reliable performance across residential interiors. Designed for indoor use, the system combines a high-performance underfloor heating cable with an OkaQuiet board, which serves as the uncoupling sheet and sound-deadening underlayment for the heated floor system, while offering crack isolation and thermal barrier insulation in one integrated assembly.

Ensure the subfloor is clean, level, and stable. Install Kiesel OkaQuiet in a staggered brick pattern, leaving a 5 mm (3/16") gap at walls and vertical surfaces. Set the boards into compatible thin-set mortar with a 1/4" x 1/4" x 1/4" square-notched trowel, pressing firmly for full coverage. After curing, tape the seams with 3/8" masking tape for added sound reduction. If using Kiesel fiber-reinforced self-leveling compound, wait 24 hours and ensure the adhesive is fully dry.

Cable straps should be securely bonded to the Kiesel OkaQuiet board using a hot glue gun before the underfloor heating cable is installed. Proper fastening helps keep the radiant floor heating cable firmly in place and reduces the risk of movement or floating during self-leveling compound pours, such as Servoplan KI 1, which must be reinforced with Kiesel glass fiber additive for added strength and stability.

The self-leveling compound then fully encapsulates the cable, creating a smooth, even surface before the finished flooring is installed. Proper encapsulation up to 3/8" thick ensures consistent heat transfer, reduces thermal loss, and improves overall system efficiency by up to 40% when installed correctly. Once embedded, the heating system supports the installation of diverse tile types, including ceramic tile, porcelain tile, granite tile, marble tile, onyx tile, quartzite tile, gneiss, and mosaic tile.  It is also suitable for use beneath engineered wood and hardwood flooring (check with the covering manufacturer for suitability for heated floors).

At the core of the system is Kiesel OkaQuiet, a lightweight flooring board engineered with a multi-layer compressed fiber structure that absorbs substrate movement and reduces stress transfer to surface floor coverings. The OkaQuiet board is only 5/32 in. (4 mm) thin and features a weighted, tension-free construction that helps create a smooth, stable substrate for finished flooring. This tile uncoupling board provides crack isolation and acts as an insulating floor underlayment to improve walking comfort and sound-deadening performance. Its flat construction provides full surface support suitable for large-format tile installations.

The OkaQuiet boards can be cut, scored, or sawn to accommodate room layouts, fixtures, doorways, drains, and transitions, allowing installers to make precise on-site adjustments as needed. This flexibility makes it easier to fit the boards around corners, uneven layouts, and detailed floor plans while maintaining clean edges and consistent placement for accurate fitting and professional results. The adaptable format supports efficient installation across residential living areas and indoor spaces, including basements, kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, entryways, hallways, foyers, bathrooms, balconies, and bathtub shower areas. Impact sound reduction has been laboratory measured at approximately 11–14 dB, depending on floor covering and test method. Measured values are covering-dependent and determined in accordance with applicable DIN test standards. To achieve this level of performance, installers must ensure full isolation by leaving perimeter gaps and covering board joints and wall transitions with generic masking tape, preventing rigid contact between adjacent surfaces. 

The heated flooring system temperature is regulated by the included WiFi programmable floor heating thermostat, enabling remote access, scheduled heating cycles, and precise temperature adjustment. The thermostat allows users to program custom heating schedules, adjust setpoints in real time, and monitor system operation for optimized performance.
