An approximately 1/16" to 1/8" (1.5 to 3 mm) space is maintained at the joints, which are then completely filled with grout or setting material for a clean finished transition.

When multiple KERDI-LINE channel bodies are installed in a continuous drainage run, the channel bodies are positioned end to end and their integrated KERDI collars are overlapped using Schluter SET®, Schluter ALL-SET®, Schluter FAST-SET®, or unmodified thin-set mortar to establish the required waterproof connection. KERDI-LINE-FC is subsequently installed together with the KERDI-LINE grate assembly and adjacent tiles, creating an integrated shower waterproofing and floor drain cover installation for extended shower floor drain configurations.

Manufactured with corrosion-resistant stainless steel, it ensures long-lasting performance in wet environments, including steam showers and barrier-free bathrooms. Neutral cleaners are recommended for routine cleaning, while strong acids, alkaline cleaners, chlorides, bleach, ammonia, abrasive cleaning products, and abrasive tools should be avoided. Periodic cleaning helps stainless steel maintain a neat appearance, and stainless surfaces can develop an enhanced sheen when treated with a suitable chrome-polishing agent.

For wall-adjacent and intermediate KERDI-LINE installations, additional installation details help create a precise transition between the channel body, waterproofing layer, and surrounding shower tile. Where the channel ends are positioned adjacent to walls, a protective cover strip can be adhered to the bonding flange along the channel edge to hide and protect the KERDI surface beneath the tile. Tile spacers are inserted into the channel body so adjoining wall tile and mortar-bed floor tiles can be installed accurately with full mortar coverage, after which excess setting material is removed. When the mortar bed continues beyond the ends of the channel, the cover strip is not required, and the tile at the channel ends can be cut either to align with surrounding grout joints or to create perimeter drainage openings. For acid-resistant coverings, an epoxy adhesive should be used to set and grout the tile, supporting a complete professional tile installation around the KERDI-LINE shower drain system.
