Product Description:

Schluter-KERDI-DRAIN-F is a floor drain specifically designed for use in tiled floors in conjunction with Schluter-DITRA and DITRA-HEAT membranes to provide reliable drainage. It is ideal for wet rooms, laundry rooms, bathroom floors, and other applications that require waterproofing and drainage. Protect floors and moisture-sensitive building structures by installing a secondary drain in areas at risk of water exposure. For tiled floors in conjunction with DITRA or DITRA-HEAT membranes. Integrated KERDI collar for a secure, waterproof connection. Dont forget! The KERDI-DRAIN grate kit must be selected separately. Note: KERDI-DRAIN-F is not compatible with the tileable grate and 6 grates.

The narrow bonding flange allows KERDI-DRAIN-F to be positioned against walls and in corners, providing greater layout flexibility when planning tiled floor drain locations. In addition to DITRA and DITRA-HEAT, the drain is designed to connect with Schluter DITRA-XL and DITRA-HEAT-DUO uncoupling membranes, creating a versatile solution for floor tile, bathroom tile, ceramic tile, porcelain tile, marble tile, granite tile, and natural stone flooring assemblies. The drain body is offered in polypropylene or stainless steel, giving installers options for different floor underlayment, waterproofing membrane, and renovation requirements while maintaining a streamlined profile within the finished tile installation.

Connection options make the KERDI-DRAIN-F adaptable to a variety of plumbing configurations in both new construction and renovation or remodeling projects. The polypropylene drain features a 2" (50 mm) NPT outlet and includes PVC and ABS couplings for attachment to compatible waste pipe using the appropriate solvent cement. Stainless steel drain models are available with standard 2" (50 mm) no-hub or threaded outlets. No-hub versions connect using an appropriate mechanical coupling, while threaded outlets are installed using suitable thread sealing tape or compound. These standard connection methods help integrate the floor drain into residential home improvement projects while supporting professional tile installation and waterproof floor construction.

The adjustable grate assembly is engineered to coordinate cleanly with the finished ceramic tile or stone tile surface. Its frame can be adjusted to the covering thickness through the vertical height adjustment collar, helping the grate sit flush with surrounding floor tiles for a refined finished appearance. The 4" (100 mm) standard grate assembly frame provides an approximately 1/8" (3 mm) reveal after installation and is offered with stainless steel CLASSIC designs or anodized aluminum CONTOUR designs in multiple finishes. The 4" (100 mm) KERDI-DRAIN-STYLE frame provides a minimal reveal and is manufactured from brushed stainless steel, with FLORAL, CURVE, and PURE grate design options available in a selection of metallic and color-coated finishes. This range allows the finished floor drain cover to coordinate with different bathroom decor, tile patterns, and design preferences.

Installation begins by cutting a 4" (100 mm) diameter opening in the substrate for the drain outlet and waste line connection. Concrete floor box-outs should be filled with dry-pack mortar or concrete and limited to a maximum 4-1/4" (108 mm) opening to maintain proper tile assembly support. Apply thin-set mortar, solidly embed the bonding flange, and check it for level before installing the construction cover. Install the uncoupling membrane to the outer edge of the flange and embed the attached connection area into mortar to achieve full coverage without trapped air. Support the grate frame with thin-set mortar and press it flush with the finished floor tile surface. A leak test of the drain-to-waste-line connection is strongly recommended whenever possible, while low-use installations may benefit from a trap primer to prevent drying. For maintenance, remove the grate for drain housing or pipe cleaning and use pH neutral cleaners, avoiding abrasive tools, strong acids, bleach, ammonia, chlorides, and aggressive alkaline cleaners.
