Schluter-DITRA-DRAIN is an alternative form of drainage membrane designed specifically for outdoor use with ceramic and stone tile. The polyethylene studs used in Schluter-DITRA-DRAIN's construction provide an uncoupling function to the tile, as well as allowing excess moisture and rainwater to drain outwards from under the tile.

The studded structure of Schluter-DITRA-DRAIN allows for in-plane movement between the tile and the substrate. This effectively neutralizes stress between the two, eliminating a major cause of breakage and delamination. Schluter-DITRA-DRAIN allows excess rainwater and runoff to escape from beneath the tile, preventing mould and mildew buildup.
