Its surface makes chalk layout lines easily visible before tile placement, helping installers plan accurate flooring layouts and heating zones. The mat can be cut to fit with a utility knife or scissors, positioned fleece-side down into the thinset mortar bed, and embedded using a float or roller to achieve proper contact while removing air pockets. Adjacent sections can be aligned tightly to create a continuous floor underlayment across the installation area. For enhanced radiant floor heating performance, HYDRO BAN Board may also be installed beneath the STRATA HEAT system as a thermal barrier to improve response to heating demand and help reduce downward heat loss through the subfloor, creating a more efficient under tile floor heating system for residential flooring projects.
