It is formulated as a thin, load-bearing, self-curing liquid rubber polymer that can be easily applied to create a flexible, seamless waterproofing membrane and crack isolation membrane. Suitable for interior and exterior surfaces, as well as horizontal and vertical applications, HYDRO BARRIER Plus adapts to a wide range of installations while forming a continuous water barrier beneath tile and stone finishes. Its versatile liquid-applied design makes it ideal for shower waterproofing, bathroom shower waterproofing, bathtub waterproofing, shower walls, shower floors, shower pans, steam rooms, swimming pools, spas, hot tub surrounds, kitchens, balconies, and other wet areas.

Laticrete HYDRO BARRIER Plus is a practical waterproof membrane for professional contractors and DIY projects of nearly any scale. When cured at 70°F (21°C) or higher and 50% relative humidity, the membrane allows flood testing in as little as 12 hours, helping reduce installation delays and accelerate project completion. Lower temperatures or higher humidity may require longer curing times. Once cured, the membrane measures only approximately 0.020 to 0.030 inches (0.5 to 0.8 mm) thick, providing reliable waterproofing protection without adding unnecessary buildup beneath floor tiles or wall tiles. Its anti-fracture performance protects tile assemblies from shrinkage cracks and other non-structural cracks up to 1/8 inch (3 mm), helping preserve ceramic tile, porcelain tile, cement tile, granite tile, marble tile, mosaic tile, glass tile, and natural stone tile installations.

The self-curing liquid membrane changes from light blue to a darker blue as it cures, providing a clear visual indicator that makes application inspection easier and helps installers identify areas requiring additional coverage. Its lighter application color enhances visibility during installation, especially across detailed shower systems, shower pan areas, shower niches, bathtub surrounds, and waterproof membrane transitions. No additional reinforcing fabric is required for standard applications, simplifying installation while reducing labour and material requirements. HYDRO BARRIER Plus exceeds ANSI A118.10 requirements for bonded waterproof membranes and ANSI A118.12 requirements for crack isolation membranes. It is also IAPMO approved for use as a shower pan liner and carries an “Extra Heavy Service” rating under TCNA performance levels based on the ASTM C627 Robinson Floor Test.

HYDRO BARRIER Plus is suitable for installation over many common building substrates, including concrete, concrete and brick masonry, cement backer board, cement mortar beds, cement plaster, cement terrazzo, poured gypsum underlayment, and approved HYDRO BAN Board installations. It may also be used over exterior glue plywood in interior applications, as well as gypsum plaster and gypsum wallboard in interior non-wet areas. Once properly cured, tile and stone can be installed over the waterproof membrane using an appropriate thinset mortar adhesive.
