Product Description:
ARDEX TL 2000 Fiber Reinforced Self-Leveling Underlayment is a professional-grade, polymer-modified floor leveling compound designed to smooth and level interior above-grade substrates before the installation of tile, natural stone, luxury vinyl tile, vinyl composition tile, vinyl plank flooring, laminate, carpet, engineered hardwood, and other approved floor coverings. Its advanced formulation combines high-strength gypsum, Portland cement, polymers, and high-performance reinforcing fibers to provide excellent tensile strength, flexural performance, dimensional stability, and dependable resistance to cracking and shrinkage.
This high-flow, low-preparation self-leveling underlayment delivers strong adhesion over properly prepared concrete, plywood, oriented strand board, gypsum, terrazzo, VCT, porcelain tile, existing patching or leveling materials, radiant heating systems, and non-water-soluble adhesive residue on concrete. No lath mesh, reinforcement fabric, or additional additives are required over approved wood substrates, helping reduce installation steps, material costs, and jobsite labor. Its smooth, flowing consistency can be mixed and applied by hand or pump, allowing the material to spread efficiently across large floor areas with minimal troweling.
ARDEX TL 2000 can be installed from 1/8 inch up to 1 1/4 inches thick neat and up to 2 inches thick when extended with approved aggregate. It creates a smooth, flat surface that is especially suitable for large-format ceramic tile, porcelain tile, marble, granite, natural stone, and other floor tile installations where surface flatness is critical. The finished underlayment is walkable in approximately 2 to 3 hours. Tile, stone, and other floor coverings may be installed in as little as 24 hours when the application is 1/8 inch thick. Applications greater than 1/8 inch must be confirmed dry through mat testing, with an estimated drying time of 2 to 3 days.
For installation, mix one 50 lb bag with 4.5 quarts or 4.25 litres of clean water. The material has an approximate flow time of 9 minutes, so installers should prepare the substrate, tools, mixing equipment, and placement area before mixing. One bag covers approximately 50 square feet at 1/8 inch or 25 square feet at 1/4 inch, although actual coverage will vary based on substrate texture, surface porosity, application thickness, and jobsite conditions. Proper substrate preparation and the appropriate ARDEX primer should be used as required for the selected surface.
With compressive strength reaching approximately 6,000 psi and flexural strength reaching approximately 1,600 psi after 28 days, ARDEX TL 2000 provides a durable foundation for residential and commercial flooring installations. It is ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, basements located above grade, living areas, bedrooms, hallways, offices, schools, hospitals, retail stores, and other interior spaces. The 0 VOC formulation supports cleaner indoor construction, while the unopened 50 lb bag has a shelf life of approximately one year when stored in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and moisture. The product is covered by the ARDEX L.P. Standard Limited Warranty and may qualify for the ARDEX SystemOne Tile and Stone Installation Systems Warranty.
Installation:
-
Mixing Ratio: 4.5 quarts (4.25 L) of water per 50 lb. (22.7 kg) bag
- Coverage: 50 sq. ft. per bag at 1/8’’ (4.5 sq. m at 3 mm); 25 sq. ft. per bag at 1/4” (2 sq. m at 6 mm)
- Coverage will vary depending on the texture of the surface being smoothed.
