ARDEX S 48™ Rapid-Set Mortar / Mastic Hybrid is an exceptionally versatile tile-setting material engineered for fast, dependable interior tile installations. This rapid-setting, polymer-modified Portland cement-based thinset mortar combines the smooth handling of premixed mastic with the strong, durable bond of a professional cement mortar. Its creamy consistency spreads easily and supports accurate tile placement, making it an excellent tile adhesive for floor tile, wall tile, countertops, kitchen backsplashes, bathroom tile, shower tile, and unexpected tile repairs.

Designed for porcelain tile, ceramic tile, quarry tile, mosaic tile, glass tile, and most natural stone tile, ARDEX S 48 offers broad compatibility for home improvement, renovation, and professional construction projects. Its brilliant white colour makes it especially suitable for translucent glass tile, light mosaics, marble tile, granite tile, and decorative stone tile where the mortar colour may influence the finished appearance. It can be applied over common interior substrates and used in intermittent wet areas, including residential bathrooms and kitchens.

The rapid-set formula helps contractors and DIY tile installers complete tile and grout work on the same day. Wall installations can be grouted in approximately 1 to 3 hours, while floor installations can be grouted after approximately 5 hours. With an open time of up to 20 minutes, a pot life of approximately 30 minutes, and a working time of 10 to 20 minutes, the mortar provides enough flexibility for careful tile positioning while still supporting fast-track installation schedules. It is an excellent choice for quick fixes, backsplash installations, floor tile repairs, bathroom decor, kitchen decor, foyers, bedrooms, dining rooms, countertops, and other interior living areas.

For a full 10 lb. (4.5 kg) package, mix with approximately 3 quarts (2.8 L) of clean water. Smaller batches can be prepared using two parts powder to one part water by volume. Approximate coverage is 30 sq. ft. (2.7 sq. m) when applied with a 1/4 in. x 1/4 in. square-notch trowel and up to 80 sq. ft. (7.4 sq. m) when applied with a 5/32 in. V-notch trowel. Proper trowel selection, substrate preparation, tile size, and application technique may affect actual coverage.

ARDEX S 48 meets or exceeds ANSI A136.1 Type 1, ANSI A118.4, and ANSI A118.11 standards and carries an ISO 13007 classification of C2 FT S2. It is also part of the ARDEX SystemOne installation approach and contains 0 VOC for interior use. Store unopened packages in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. The unopened shelf life is approximately one year, and the ARDEX L.P. Standard Limited Warranty applies, providing added confidence for professional and DIY tile installation projects.
