Product Description:
ARDEX OVP Finishing Compound is a professional-grade, Portland cement-based patching and smoothing solution designed specifically for interior and exterior overhead and vertical concrete or masonry applications. Engineered with advanced polymer-modified technology, this high-performance finishing compound delivers superior adhesion, easy workability, high yield, and a smooth, uniform finish for concrete walls, ceilings, precast panels, tilt-up walls, poured-in-place concrete panels, block, masonry, and other vertical structures. Its lightweight yet durable formula ensures strong bonding and dependable performance, making it an ideal choice for commercial construction, industrial maintenance, residential repairs, and new construction projects.
ARDEX OVP is formulated for both deep-fill repairs and skim-coat applications, providing a sandable, non-shrinking patch for filling voids, cracks, surface imperfections, and honeycombs in overhead or vertical concrete. It can also be used to smooth rough or uneven surfaces before applying paint, sealers, decorative coatings, or compatible waterproofing systems. The compound applies smoothly with a trowel, adheres firmly without sagging, and can be feathered to create a seamless transition between repaired and existing surfaces. Its gray finish helps deliver a consistent, professional appearance across concrete and masonry substrates.
Designed for efficient jobsite use, ARDEX OVP is easy to mix and apply while offering a long pot life for larger projects. Mix one 20 lb. bag with approximately 5 quarts of clean water, or use a ratio of two parts powder to one part water by volume for smaller batches. The material provides a pot life of approximately 90 minutes and a working time of about 30 minutes, allowing installers sufficient time for placement, shaping, smoothing, and finishing. Depending on jobsite conditions, repaired surfaces may be ready for sealing or painting in approximately 2 to 3 hours, helping reduce downtime and keep projects moving efficiently.
Approximate coverage on a smooth substrate is 133 sq. ft. per 20 lb. bag at 1/16 inch, 66.6 sq. ft. per bag at 1/8 inch, and 33.3 sq. ft. per bag at 1/4 inch. When used as a skim coat over smooth concrete, coverage may reach approximately 300 sq. ft. per bag. Actual coverage will vary depending on substrate texture, surface condition, application thickness, waste, and installation technique. The high-yield formulation makes ARDEX OVP a practical solution for both localized repairs and larger vertical surface preparation projects.
With excellent workability, fast-drying performance, zero VOC content, and superior finish quality, ARDEX OVP is a dependable choice for contractors, installers, builders, and maintenance professionals seeking consistent results on vertical and overhead concrete surfaces. It is well suited for warehouses, industrial facilities, parking garages, basements, tunnels, corridors, commercial buildings, exterior walls, and residential construction projects. Supplied in a 20 lb. bag, the unopened product has a shelf life of approximately nine months when stored in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight, with unused material tightly sealed to help preserve product quality.
