The ARDEX UI 720 is a floating uncoupling, stress-relieving membrane for tile flooring installation (including basement flooring applications). It is installed as a floating membrane over the underlying subfloor, protecting the tiles above from damaging developments such as lateral movement, shifts and in-plane substrate movement. Because of its truly uncoupling properties, this membrane can be safely laid over more difficult substrate types with reduced surface preparation requirements, saving time. Its perforations allow vapor pressure to equalize, which is a crucial factor for basement renovation when dealing with moisture-prone concrete slabs or wood-based subfloors. The unique bone-shaped stud pattern on the surface of the membrane is easily filled with thin-set mortar, and the undercuts on each stud mechanically lock into the cured mortar as it dries, improving mechanical anchoring and overall grip to the tile covering. The studs support and protect tiles above while improving flexibility and absorbing shear movement. This improves tile and grout joint longevity. It's integrated self-sticking fiberglass mesh with self-sticking overlaps makes connecting separate sheets of this membrane faster and more consistent.
